The zoning amendment would newly provide for liquor distilleries in Town. This use is currently not addressed by the zoning code but there is some new development pressure for this activity and staff has responded by drafting some language. You will find the Draft Zoning Revision attached. It would permit liquor distilleries in Light Industrial Zones an other allowances would be by Special Use Permit from the Zoning Board of Review. The current applicant is Peter A. Huber d/b/a Boone Lake Spirits, LLC and the proposed location is 1485 South County Trail.
Zoning ordinance amendments in East Greenwich require three readings including one advertised public hearing. Per Section 260-82 (E) of the Zoning Code, zoning amendments must be advertised for three consecutive weeks leading up to the scheduled public hearing. The Planning Board is required to review and recommend all proposed zoning amendments and they have now reviewed the proposal on three separate occasions and voted to advance the draft provided to the Council.
First reading occurred on April 8, 2019.
